Fans tweet feelings on JLo-Anthony split

After seven years of marriage, JLo and Marc Anthony call it quits.

Fans went on to Twitter to air their feelings following the announcement that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are separating after seven years of marriage.

The couple announced their split on Friday. In a joint statement issued by the couple, they said that “this was a very difficult decision” and “a painful time for all involved.”

“We appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time,” they said.

The two were married months after Lopez’s engagement to actor Ben Affleck ended and after Anthony’s divorce from former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres was finalized. They have 3-year-old twins, Emme and Max, who were born in 2008.

One fan who goes by the username @KardashK_Army tweeted: “So so shocked that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split. So sudden and out of nowhere! Good luck to them both in the future ?”

Many of the tweets, however, were not as empathetic.

“JLo gets divorced whenever she releases an album,” @BigJooceBabaaay tweeted in response to the news. Another tweet who goes by the username @4eyedmonk congratulated JLo, pointing out that “this marriage lasted over 3 times longer than her last 2.”

A number of celebrities also shared their feelings regarding the news of the split on Twitter. Entertainment news commentator Dan Wootton tweeted: “Shocked that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split. They seemed so in love on American Idol.”

Actor Jason Alexander added his voice into the mix of cynicism regarding the split. “JLo is back in play,” he tweeted. “Anyone hooks me up with her cel number and then it’s just a matter of time.”
