DiCaprio clinches top spot as highest earning actor in Hollywood

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s paycheck of $77 million makes him the Highest Earning Actor in Hollywood today.
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio clinched the top position as the highest earning actor in Hollywood today.
DiCaprio, who earned $77 million during 2010, clinched the top position from Johnny Depp who now ranks second with a total earning of $50 million.
In an article published by Forbes Magazine, author Dorothy Pomerantz attributed the huge jump of DiCaprio from number five to the top spot as a result of smart choices he had made in his career.
Following his success in the megahit film Titanic back in 1997, DiCaprio carefully selected his roles, waiting for offers by great and serious directors. His patience paid off, starring in Danny Boyle’s film The Beach in 2000 and casted in the films Gangs of New York and Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can two years later.
While only a few of his films became blockbusters, his choice of roles established DiCaprio as an actor that could work with some of the best directors in the film industry.
Comedian Adam Sandler ranks number three in the list–which was compiled by Forbes Magazine from interviews and conversations with agents, lawyers, producers and insiders of the industry–earning a total of $40 million the previous year. He is closely followed by Will Smith and Tom Hanks who earned $36 and $35 million respectively.
